Is it over yet?!?!? I think we all ask ourselves that question on a regular basis even though we know the answer is definitely ‘NO’!! I don’t think any of us thought that in October we would still be operating the same as we were in March – seven months later – navigating our ‘new normal’ in this COVID-19 world.
Over the past seven months we have seen employees come and go, navigated through different requirements for each state we operate in and each client regarding the frequency of testing, required PPE when you enter their buildings, etc. During this time, we have seen our technicians become what I consider to be true ‘healthcare heroes’.We hear that term used in the media on a frequent basis as it refers to nurses, doctors, paramedics, etc. When I hear this, while I agree that they are heroes, I know that the technicians that work for Express most definitely fall into this category as well. They travel to different locations every day to do their job – they are in skilled nursing facilities, personal care homes, prisons, jails and people’s homes every day. They have learned to ‘embrace’ the level of PPE that is required to protect themselves and the patients that they perform exams on each day.
I don’t think they will ever know and understand the level of appreciation that I have for what they do each day – especially during a global pandemic – filling in when one of their team members is sick, traveling to a different area to fill in when we have a spike in exams, tracking the testing of our employees. I have watched them come together like the family that we are and work through this every day. As we all know, there has not been a dull moment and the rules change all of the time.
These folks have adapted and continue to ‘take pictures’ without skipping a beat…again, I could not be more grateful for their dedication to their patients and this company!
